About Us

Kansas Parish Nurse Ministry was founded in 2005 by JoVeta Wescott for the purpose of furthering parish nursing and health ministry in Kansas.  We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in Kansas, and all donations and gifts are tax deductible.

KPNM serves as a resource on parish nursing/health ministry.  Help is available to all denominations in the communities we serve (state of Kansas).  Consultation/collaboration is available to assist you in starting your program, customizing your program, and possible directions to meet the needs of your congregation.  Help is available to troubleshoot issues that arise as your program gets underway.

Support is available on an on-going basis.

As we strive to make ourselves sustainable, the steering committee made the decision to become a membership organization.  Membership is $100.00 per year.  Often times, this is paid by the parish nurses’ church.  Members receive reduced fees for educational events, plus other benefits. Educational programs are planned for nurses and clergy, including an annual 2 day conference held in October each year.  The only Basic Preparation Course taught in Kansas is available 1-2 times a year.  This is a week long course developed by the International Parish Nurse Resource Center.  Plus, there is also a course that meets several times over a period of a few months, and these courses are held in Wichita.

One of the roles of the parish nurse is that of a referral agent.  KPNM is available to assist in identifying and contacting health resources and agencies, and we partner with many different agencies.
